To Wake the Dead: Words, Love & Time
Picosa Music

Picosa brings its 13th season to an unforgettable, tour-de-force conclusion featuring acclaimed soprano Amanda DeBoer Bartlett, conductor Michael Lewanski, and an expanded chamber ensemble!

The evening opens with the poignant, tender intimacy of Stacy Garrop’s My Dearest Ruth (inspired by Martin Ginsburg’s final letter to Ruth Bader Ginsburg), the rhythmic intrigue of Rolando Gomez’s The Two Clocks, and the fiery, teenage Romanticism of Mahler’s sole surviving chamber work, the Piano Quartet in A minor.

The season culminates in Stephen Albert’s Pulitzer Prize–winning masterpiece, To Wake the Dead—a kaleidoscopic 30-minute sonic adventure channeling the cyclical genius and wild imagination of James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake.
